Life Skills

Endeavor’s LifeSkills Program is designed to teach teenagers and young adults the skills they need to be independent and successful in their home and community environments as they grow older and encounter new and different challenges in life. Each individual's treatment plan targets skills such as grooming and hygiene routines, mealtime routines, household chores, and prevocational skills, while maintaining a focus on functional communication and social skills within these environments. Therapy within this program is often conducted in the community to work on skills such as grocery shopping, attending doctor and dentist appointments, and learning transportation routes. Built into our LifeSkills Program is a transition to self-monitoring to ensure that each individual learns to implement these routines on their own to develop the skills necessary to live an independent life in the future. Parent training is also highly encouraged to facilitate skill acquisition and the generalization of learned skills to the individual's home and community environment.
